Defying Odds

James Nolan is a lifelong resident of Westchester County and was born in raised in Yonkers. In November 2021, James was elected as Westchester County Legislator for District 15, achieving a remarkable victory by defeating the incumbent.

A Man On A Mission

Overcoming Tragedy

In 2016, after his brother Michael was tragically murdered, James founded The Michael Nolan Foundation in his memory to provide scholarships to graduates of Yonkers Public Schools and other essential needs to the community. As a community activist, James has mentored dozens of students, successfully advocated for the passage of legislation on state and local levels, such as an illegal gun buyback program and drag racing confiscation laws, and successfully coordinated over 50 food and P.P.E. drives.

When he’s not engaged in his role as a dedicated County Legislator, James Nolan takes on the role of a proud Teamster without hesitation, unafraid to roll up his sleeves and dive into the work. With a remarkable dedication to his community, James starts his day at the early hour of 4:00am, joining the Yonkers DPW on a garbage truck to ensure the streets of Yonkers are kept pristine. Rooted in the Homefield neighborhood of Yonkers, James shares his life with his wife Dianne, their beloved  daughter, and cat. His unwavering commitment both in and out of the political realm reflects his profound passion for fostering a better quality of life for all those he serves.
